Name;;
James Godric Potter
House;;
Gryffindor.
Age;;
Seventeen.
Year;;
Seventh.
Appearance;;
James is quite a beautiful young man, and he knows it. From the roots of his hair to the tips of his toes, he's beautiful. He never lets anyone forget that, either, not that they really could.
The sole Potter heir isn't exactly what you'd call small. He's a rather gangly boy, yes, but definitely not small. He is about 5"10' and weighs at 140, being all muscle. He doesn't often work out, only playing Quidditch whenever humanly possible, but when he does it's only to keep up what he has and not build anymore. Most girls aren't into extremely buff guys. It wouldn't suit him, anyway.
He has untidy black hair that sticks up in the back, though he doesn't do much to try to fix it anyway. He can often be seen ruffling his hair to make it appear even more windswept than it usually is -- a very small possibility. His eyebrows are rather bushy, but he makes it work... though they never did grow all the way back after that game of exploding snap gone wrong...
James' facial features are rather sharp, his striking hazel eyes still bold behind his wire-rimmed glasses. His nose is rather harsh for his face, but somehow it's attractive. His lips aren't out of the ordinary, neither particularly pouty nor too thin. His jaw is rather square and very defined, occasionally sporting a bit of stubble if he's too lazy to shave.
His neck is rather short, his shoulders broad but slender. His arms and legs are both long and rather gangly, his elbows and knees slightly knobby. He has rather big feet, but he's a tall person so it makes since.
James very rarely dresses out of his uniform, unless it's Quidditch robes. When he does, though, he's mostly in a tight-fitting tee shirt and a pair of jeans. Simple and efficient, how he likes it. However, for formal events, he loves wearing dress robes and expensive muggle suits. Sure, he's a bit weird... deal.

Personality;;
James is God. Repeat this sentence over and over, and that's pretty much what's constantly going through his head. thingyy much? That's an understatement. The boy loves himself a bit too much, but that's okay. Chicks dig it.
He puts more thought into his appearance and actions than anything else, it seems. He's constantly looking in the mirror or ruffling his hair, just to make himself look better. He's always ready for the "fan girls" with a big smile and plenty of compliments that seem more real than they truly are. If there's anything James is, it's superficial. The most important things in life are friends, Quidditch, and girls. In that order. Or at least, that's what he makes everyone think.
Towards his best mates, The Marauders as they have been infamously named, James is a completely different person. While he's still rather thingyy towards them, it's in an endearing way. He'd do anything for them and is fiercely loyal to every member of their group. He more often than not is forced to stand up for Peter, who is a weakness that many Slytherins love to exploit, but otherwise is quite proud of the achievements that they have had together.
Quidditch will always be one of the most important things in James' life. He doesn't just love playing it, but also watching it and discussing stats and everything of the sort. He often finds himself at the Quidditch Pitch when he hadn't even meant to walk there, just being comforted by the smell of grass and sweat that lingers in the dressing room.
Girls are also a major part of James' life, though for the past few years he's toned it down quite a bit with them. Or at least, with most of them. In his earlier years at school, he was quite the charmer. He enjoyed pretty girls and would date a new one every week... sometimes holding on to them longer depending on how well they got along. That all changed when Lily continued to avoid his attempts to make her another number. At first, she was only something that he was intrigued in... a girl who could actually say no to him. But, soon, he found himself thinking about her all the time. He doesn't believe that she's just one of the many other girls that he'll date and dump. She's something different. Although she doesn't know this now, thinking that she's just going to be forgotten like the rest, she will soon. James is determined to make her his, and for good.
He's an arrogant prat, of course, but he's also extremely popular. These things always seem to walk hand in hand, but his tendency for extravagant pranks and randomly hexing Slytherins help up his status quite a bit. If there is anyone that James truly hates, it's anyone from Slytherin. Particularly Snape, or Snivellus as he's quite partial to calling him, or anyone he hangs out with. Since his first day upon the Hogwarts Express, James has decided to devotedly hate the entire house. Why, not many people know... just that he does.
James has been quite a prankster for his entire life, even before Hogwarts. When placed with Sirius and eventually Remus and Peter, the hobby grew into a passion. He's always up for a good prank, no matter the consequences. If people were actually going to really truly get hurt, he'd probably stop... depending on who it was. He doesn't mind detentions, taking each of them as if he were recieving an award for all his hard work, but he doesn't like the idea of innocent people getting hurt... except if it is a Slytherin. They deserve it.
As for innocent people, James is one of the few people who are willing to acknowledge that something is seriously wrong. Voldemort has become a name that everyone wants to avoid, unwillingly to face the fact that the wizarding world as they know it is in grave danger. He's very animated about this particular subject and can often be found discussing his future plans to become an auror and help fight him. James is a rather ambitious fellow, despite his reputation, and when he puts his mind to something he doesn't stop until he's accomplished it.
Lately, though, James has found himself being different. He's not as thingyy towards people, nor as rude to the Slytherins. Although he still hates them and will return anything they give him, he hardly ever starts anything. He feels different, this past summer... like he's grown into a man. And he isn't sure if he likes it or not, yet.
All in all, James is a rather complex person. And he's not going to change anytime soon.

All in all, James is a rather complex person. And he's not going to change anytime soon.
History:
James was born on a warm spring morning to two very happy parents. Despite trying to conceive for several years prior to his birth, they had never had another child. They had all but given up when the surprise came nine months earlier. They had gone through all the classes and bought nearly every toy imaginable to put in their brand new nursery. Nobody was happier than the two as they hugged their baby boy for the first time.
Growing up, James life was much like this. He got whatever he needed, and many more things that he didn't. The relatives loved the charming little boy who was always waiting at the door with a big smile. He had a top-of-the-line broomstick by his tenth birthday and could have flown it in his sleep by the time he went to Hogwarts the next year. His most important decision when offered a position on the Quidditch team in later years was what position to choose. After trying out for each, however, it was obvious that he was born to be a Chaser.
More importantly than Quidditch, however, are the people who he met his very first day. His liking to Sirius might have been because of their first meeting... Where he walked down a hallway just in time to see Sirius tackling a rather bulky fourth year Slytherin and rearranging his face. James promptly asked him if he'd like to share a compartment and they learned that they had quite a bite in common. They even managed their first heist that day -- dung-bombing Malfoy's compartment. Nobody ever did pin them for that, though judging by the past few years they've a pretty good idea.
Upon entering the Great Hall and being sorted into Gryffindor, James and Sirius got to know the other First Year Gryffindor boys, Remus, Peter, and Frank, and they became friends. It wasn't long, however, before they realized that they had little in common with Frank. Although they still remained friends, he wasn't a part of the tightly-knit group that was later infamously named 'The Marauders'. Over the next year, the bonds that they had between them grew ever-stronger, the boys opening up to each other and beginning to learn more and more everyday. The could talk about everything and anything -- or so they thought.
It wasn't until the middle of their second year that they found out about Remus' strange disappearances and why he looked so sickly once every month. James was frightened at first, though he'll never admit it, but quickly adjusted to the idea of one of his best mates being a werewolf. After that, they all began researching ways to help him and discovered animagi. James had always had a knack for Transfiguration, so they set to work to each transform into their own animagus form. Though it took them a while -- it wasn't until their Fifth Year that they got it right -- and the mistakes were often painful, it was definitely worth it.
James' longstanding hatred towards Slytherins only grew over the years and he found himself jinxing and pranking them whenever possible. He had already held a particular hatred for Malfoy, but he soon grew to hate everyone he hung out with, especially Snape. This was majorly due to the fact that he was so close to Lily, but James would never admit to that.
Lily is a whole different story, anyway. At first, she was just one of the many girls that James thought was pretty. It was only natural for him to ask her out, but when she rejected him without so much as a second glance, he became intrigued. He worked out so many plans to make her his and she avoided each and every one of them, not caring the slightest about his feelings. It was of quite a surprise to him when he found that he thought about her constantly. If someone were to ask now, he wouldn't be able to deny it. He's fallen for her. But, still, she doesn't seem to care about he feels, only seeing the thingyy and arrogant side of him and not believing that he could be any deeper.
It was in their Sixth Year that it happened -- the prank that put such a strain on the four's friendship. They also began exploring Hogsmeade by night and made Marauder's Map, only to have it confiscated by Filch, but these things paled in comparison to Sirius' mistake. He had thought that it would be funny to have Snape get a little scare, not a big deal or anything. He obviously didn't think the plan through until after it was over and done with. James caught wind of the plan and saved him before he lost his life, though he still managed to see Remus' transformation. Snape resented him even more for that, and has become nastier ever since... but that's not what matters to James. The fact that Remus doesn't seem to be able to trust Sirius completely anymore is definitely a problem. He is constantly trying to bridge the gap that has grown between them but he's not sure if he ever will.
Still, life goes on, and James is now entering is Seventh and final year at Hogwarts. And, much as he hates to admit it, he's scared.

Roleplay Sample:
The fact that James should have been doing homework right now had occurred to him several times, but he couldn't be bothered with that right now. His mind was focused on other things. Her words still rang in his ears, accompanied by a slap that still stung his face.
'You insufferable prick! Why do you even come here, you aren't any help! I hate you!'
He felt like crying for some reason, but he wouldn't let himself. Not here. You may be wondering were here was, exactly, and you would probably laugh if you were the one who found James... in a broom closet on the Fourth Floor. Usually he only came here to snog girls, but now he was here and the closest thing to a girl was a mop that smelled as if it had been used to scrub a troll. They obviously hadn't gotten far.
He pulled his knees tighter to his chest, sitting crunched up like this making him feel oddly small. James hadn't been small for years, his long legs putting him at six feet in the least, and he wasn't sure that he liked the feeling very much. He closed his eyes tightly, hanging his head against his knees and attempting to think of something other than Lily Evans.
It was awful, the way that he had fallen for her. He hadn't even been trying to. It was just that she was so much different than anyone else. None of the other girls had ever even dreamed of telling the James Potter no. But she had, without even thinking twice. And now, here she was, still insulting him. But things had changed. Now, James didn't just want her as a trophy. In fact, he didn't want a trophy at all. He just wanted her to realize that he was a different person now. That he really did like her.
But he doubted that would happen anytime soon.
He growled under his breath at how depressing this moment seemed. And, really, it was. He felt as if there was no hope. why would she ever want to go with him, anyway? He was a prick. And he wasn't trying very hard not to be. Or, at least, it must have seemed like he wasn't. Lily hadn't noticed that he wasn't hexing Slytherins as much anymore. Only if they were bothering him or his mates first. And that was defense, so it was okay, right? And he hadn't humiliated Snape but once the entire year. That was a big deal, wasn't it?
James sighed loudly, then, taking off his glasses and wiping his eyes with his sleeve. He couldn't believe he was crying, though it was only a few tears. He was just frustrated, though, that was all. He attempted to swallow the lump that had made it's way into his throat. Why did she always have to point out what he was doing wrong and never notice that he was doing a lot more things right, now? Why didn't it matter to her that he was trying, at least?
He sat there for what seemed like hours, mentally ranting about how she obviously wasn't trying to change, either. And then it was over. He stood up, placed his glasses on his face and ruffled his hair, stepping out of the closet into an empty hallway and acting like nothing had ever happened. And, as far as anyone else knew, nothing had.
