Needing to get away (James)

[Severus Snape]

Severus was in hogsmeade late at night. Not like all the other students that were supposed to be in bed right now Severus was actually in the Three Broomsticks drinking. He had just returned from his parent's house a couple of minutes ago and was covered in fresh new bruises and new pain from his father beating on him for not leaving hogwarts.

Taking a short breath Severus winiced in pain as he sat down and began to chug his first bottle of firewisky down. The only thing that Severus regreted was that he couldn't even tell his girlfriend about this. Because of he did his father would just hurt him harder.

Wincing again as he breathed Sev felt like he just needed to drink. He needed to drink to escape. But, he may also needed to go to mungo's to get his ribs checked out as it felt like they were pressing against his lungs.

<sub>James pushed open the door to the Three Broomsticks, not paying attention to who was in the cafe as he went to the counter and ordered a butterbeer. Remembering the aftermath of his drunken night not too long ago, he decided to stay away from firewhiskey... at least for a little while.

It wasn't until he was turning around and trying to find an empty table that he noticed Snape there, looking not at all happy. He took a swig of his butterbeer, sitting at the table next to him and leaning back in his chair. He didn't say anything, just sitting there and waiting for him to notice him.

Taking another quick drink of his firewisky as he glanced around the bar and spotted Potter making him spit up a bit of his drink. "Following me now are you Potter" Sev asked coldly. Though Severus kept his hood up and sleeves down so James couldn't see his injuries.

"Never mind that I can't believe I'm saying this but, I may need your help Potter" Severus responded as he winiced in pain as he took another small breathe. Severus couldn't believe that in his time of need that he had to turn to his worse enemy for help.

<sub>James rolled his eyes and was about to respond to Snape's first comment when he continued talking. He nearly knocked over his chair when he heard what he had to say. "Are you serious? Why would you need my help?" he asked, not being able to reign himself in and act how he normally did around Snape.

The Gryffindor boy's eyes were rather wide behind his glasses, his hand around the butterbeer that was sitting on the table. He figured if he picked it up now, he'd drop it. He never thought that Snape would ever ask for help, much less to him... he was like, his worst enemy.</sub>

Looking at Potter Severus sighed as he finally lowered his hood and pulled up his sleeves revaling his cut up face and arms. Looking away Severus out his hand beside his face so he could shield it from anyone else seeing it. "Go ahead laugh if you want" Severus said as he breathed again making him feel the pain as his other hand went straight to his ribs in pain.

"I'm serious but, I can't tell you why just help me" Sev pleaded. His breathing had began faster with every breath and it was faster then normal. "Please Potter" Severus pleaded again.

<sub>James, despite what you might think, knew when the time to laugh was. And now wasn't. He eyed Snape as he begged him for help and knew that something really must have been wrong. He said nothing more, leaving his butterbeer on the table and helping Snape out of the shop, walking down the street a bit where it was less crowded and then grabbed his arm tightly. "I'm apparating us to Saint Mungos," he informed him split seconds before they both disappeared from the streets of Hogsmead and reappeared at the hospital.
