It was odd to see the Three Broomsticks when it wasn't crowded. Or, at least, it would have been, had you been someone who only came to Hogsmeade during School Trips. James definitely didn't fall into that category.
Currently, the seventeen year old was sitting at a table close to the door, swigging his firewhiskey. So, maybe it wasn't a great idea to get drunk and then go back to school... but James wasn't always the smartest person. He tried to remember who exactly it was he had asked to meet him here, but he couldn't.
That probably wasn't a good thing.
He grimaced, leaning against the window and closing his eyes as the cool glass touched his face. He hadn't realized how hot he had been until that moment, when his glasses shoved against the bridge of his nose to the point where it was very painful. He sighed and pulled back, pulling off the offending item and tossing them on the table before once again pressing his face against the window.
Now he was cool, half-drunk, and blind. Lovely. [/sub]

Remus walked towards Hogsmeade in need of some new quills for class. All his had magically disappeared and now he needed some new ones. He walked into the store that he knew sold quills and bought a couple with the small amount of money he had. He walked out of the store with his new purchase and made his way towards Three Broomsticks, wanting to order a butterbeer.
Walking into the less crowded pub, Remus looked around and noticed someone oddly familiar sitting at a table close to the door where he was standing. He ordered the butterbeer then walked over to the table, noticing that the someone he saw was James. "Exactly what are you doing here?" asked Remus, dropping into the seat across from him.

James looked up as Remus spoke to him, his forehead creasing. He couldn't see anything... it was just all a big blur. He blinked several times, hands rubbing his eyes. "I've gone blind, mate!" he exclaimed a bit too loudly. The bartender gave him a glare at this, but he didn't see it to be offended by it. And, then, he realized he wasn't wearing his glasses. He nearly knocked over his firewhiskey as his hands grasped at the table, finally finding the wire-rimmed glasses and slipping them on his face. "Er... nevermind..." he trailed off with a crooked grin.
He leaned back in his chair, shrugging. "As for your question, I have no idea. What are you doing here?" he asked, tilting his head to the side and nearly falling out of his chair from the unbalancing motion. He grabbed his bottle of firewhiskey and took a drink, sloshing some of it on his face. He winced as it burned on the way down and wiped his face with his sleeve.
Now, isn't that attractive? [/sub]

Remus laughed at his friend, watching as he groped the table for his glasses "You have yet to not amaze me James" he said shaking his head then sipping at his butterbeer. He watched in yet again amazement as James spilled the firewhiskey onto himself. "Wow" he said simply, shaking his head. "I wonder what Lily would do if she saw you like this"
Shaking his head again, Remus took another sip of his drink then looked at James "I was getting some new quills and decided to get a butterbeer while I was here" he said pointing to his drink.

James grinned like he was being complimented, thought the comment would have been rather insulting had he been sober, and took another drink of firewhiskey. Which he promptly choked on and spit out all over his lap as Lily was mentioned. "No!" he said, jumping up and knocking over his chair. He blinked and looked around the room at everyone staring at him and giggled a bit nervously.
"Erm... You can't... tell her," he said, in a mock-hushed voice, pulling his chair back to the table and sitting down. He set his firewhiskey down, glaring at the rather painful drink, and then resting his chin on his hands. "You're sure you're not here for a bird?" he added, glancing around the room. The only attractive woman was Madam Rosmerta, who was a half-decade their senior, but she had potential. James winked at Remus and gestured to her. [/sub]

Remus shook his head, laughing at James "I wasn't going to tell her. I was just saying I wonder what she would say or do if she saw you like this James" he said watching him sit back down at the table.
Following his gaze to Rosmerta, Remus forced himself to not make a disguisted face as he returned his gaze to James. "I don't think so. I only wanted a drink then I was going to return to the castle. I told Lily I would help her study for an exam we have in Potions tomorrow" he said, looking at James. "She would have asked you but then you're failing that class and that wouldn't have helped her much" he continued, sipping at his drink tiredly, the marks on his face from the last full moon still as visible as ever.

James scowled, nosily laying his head on the table. "Kick a bloke when he's down, why don't you?" he half-jokingly commented, groaning slightly afterwards. His stomach hurt, now. He managed to lift his head high enough to once again glower at the offending bottle, bloodshot eyes narrowed. "You're mean," he informed the firewhiskey, completely oblivious to the fact that talking to inanimate objects was not normal.
He looked up at Remus, then, chin resting on the rather uncomfortable grains of the table. "You know, Professor Slughorn has it out for me, anyway. He's only saying that I didn't do well, but really, I'm fantastic. He's just jealous," James commented, nodding to himself and wrinkling his nose as the wood splintered his face. "Ow," he muttered, sitting up and rubbing his (rather stubbly, at this hour) chin. [/sub]

Remus shook his head at his friend and stood up, pulling James up from his seat "Time to go back to the castle now James" he said attempting to pull his friend with him to the door. He was somewhat strong but with the full moon being only a few days in the past Remus was still weak and all this pulling of James wasn't helping in the least.
"You're too drunk to stay here" he said continuing to pull James to the door, flinging the door open with a spell from his wand. "Merlin your heavy" he groaned, tripping a few times over chairs.

James attempted to pull away from Remus but only succeeded in almost knocking down the both of them. "Eh, I'm sorry mate," he proclaimed loudly as they were hit by a cold rush of wind. The Gryffindor's feet crunched on the ground as he walked alongside his friend, leaning on him primarily. "You know, you're like one of my best friends, Moony," he said, his voice rather choked as if he was trying not to cry.
"I don't know what I would do without you. I think I'd die, Moony," he continued with rather tear-filled eyes as they walked up towards the school. It was perfectly normal for the two to visit Hogsmeade, it wasn't like they weren't responsible wizards or anything. Sure, it wasn't exactly something that was allowed, but nobody would no. James pulled his invisibility cloak out of his pocket and draped it over the both of them as best as they could.
"We'll have to crouch a bit," he added. [/sub]

Remus looked at him, a worried look on his face "Love you too mate" he said simply, continuing to walk towards the castle. He looked up at the castle, sighing softly. "You know when you have a friend leaning on you the castle seems so much further away than it really is"
Crouching down after James told him to, Remus helped him wrap the cloak around them then continued to help James up the steep driveway to the castle. "They really should have thought about the students that get drunk at Hogsmeade when they made this school. I mean making us go up a hill thats just plain ridiculous"

James couldn't help but laugh softly at Remus' comment. He stood up a bit straighter, realizing now that his head was out of the clouds that his friend was probably very weak. "Hey, I can walk on my own," he added with a slight grin, only slightly leaning on him now. He stumbled a bit more, but managed.
"So, uh, did you get good quills?" he asked his friend with a chuckle. It obviously wasn't something that either of them really cared about, but James didn't like silences... even if they weren't awkward. He just didn't like sitting in the quiet. If there were people, there should be talking and laughter. There wasn't any current reason for there not to be, besides the fact that Remus was coming back from an unauthorized trip to Hogsmeade with a nearly-drunken James in tow. You know, the usual. No big deal. [/sub]

Remus looked at him, raising an eyebrow "You sure about that?" he asked holding his hands a few inches from James' arms just in case he would fall again "We don't want you getting hurt now. That would ruin our chances in Quidditch this year" he continued, knowing James wouldn't want that to happen.
Looking at him after his comment about the quills, Remus raised an eyebrow yet again "I guess you could say that. They didn't have many to choose from well they did but they didn't have many that I could buy with the amount of money I have which isn't a lot" he said stepping sideways so he wouldn't run into a lamppost that had magically appeared in front of him.

James glanced at Remus under the invisibility cloak as they stepped through the gates. It was dark, now, and it probably wasn't a good idea to use lumos. Still, he could see... kind of. "Yeah. Well, I'm glad," he said with a slight grin. He didn't know what else to say, his head was beginning to pound. He was glad that the Heads didn't have to patrol tonight, otherwise Lily would have known... and that wouldn't have been good. At least, not for James.
"Do you know where Evans was when you were leaving? I hope we don't run into her..." he worried aloud. [/sub]
