James wasn't sure exactly what he was doing. It wasn't often that he got a free period in which he wasn't going to study, and he decided to make this one. He could see the stack of homework that had to be turned in at the end of the week and couldn't stop himself from leaving the Common Room and walking down the hall.
He didn't know where he was going, and he didn't care. He'd rather stay up until three in the morning that night than work on it right now. Sure, usually it was easier than you thought it was going to be, but right now James couldn't even think straight much less write an essay on the Centaur wars of 1867.
He lifted a hand to ruffle his hair with a bit of a grimace. No matter how often he reminded himself not to do that, he still did. He knew that it bothered Lily but it must not have been that terrible if she liked him regardless.
He couldn't suppress the goofy grin that stretched his lips then, the memory of what had happened the day before fresh on his mind. He had thought about her constantly since then and had replayed every moment of the day over and over in his head, like a favorite record or something... [/sub]

Severus wasn't really paying attetion to where he was going. Quite frankly he really didn't care he just needed to be alone to get away from everything school, his slytherin buddies, his girlfriend, and mostly James Potter and his gang of goof offs. Grabbing a potions book before he left the slytherin common room Severus walked slowly through the corridors.
Looking up once in a while he sneered at all the people that walked by him. Mostly mudbloods and people that didn't belong to slytherin. Stopping at a windowsill Sev sat on it and opened his potions book looking down at a couple of pages he felt like someone was watching him but, he didn't care he just didn't want to pay attetion to anyone right now.

James walked a bit farther and then leaned against the wall, closing his eyes for a moment. He heard the noise of pages turning and opened his eyes, looking around for the source of the noise. He noticed Snape a little bit farther down the corridor and pushed away from the wall, walking towards him.
He stuck his hands in his pockets and gripped his wand tightly, just for protection. He wasn't planning on starting anything... yet. "Hey Snivelly," he said in greeting, a confident smile on his face. He could always use a bit of playing around with him for fun, but he remember Lily and decided against it. She wouldn't approve, he knew... [/sub]

Still reading his book Sev heard someone's voice. From the name they said he knew right away who it was. "What do you want Potter some people unlike yourself like to study you know" Sev said still not looking at him.
Though one of his hands were on his wand just in case. "Why are you holding back anyways I thought everytime you see me you'll like to pull a silly joke" he replied as he put his book down jumping down off the windowsill and taking out his wand with a smirk. "Or do you need blacky, looney luppy, and petty for help" Sev asked as he began to advance on him.

James' hands remained in his pockets, a display that told Snape that he obviously wasn't afraid of him. It's not like he'd start anything, anyway. And, if he did... well, James would be quick to respond. "Some people would prefer that I don't attack others," he said with a shrug, his eyes boring into Snape's. If he didn't realize who he was talking about, James wouldn't spell it out for him. "Or you, particularly, I suppose," he added.
He removed one of his hands from his pockets, the one not clutching his wand, and brushed his hair back from his face with his fingers. It was getting a bit long, and he wondered if he should cut it. He only really trusted his mother with his hair. And, after a bad attempt by both Sirius and Remus, he decided that he could cut it better himself. His eyes turned back to Snape as he thought. "Don't you need Malfoy to back you up? Oh, wait. He doesn't back you up, he shields you," he snorted. [/sub]

"Malfoy" Sev chuckled. "Really Potter do you excpt I would want that goofball backing me up or sheilding me" Sev snorted as he eyed him over. "You need your little gang though I'm afraid because if you wouldn't then you would already attacked me or is mudblood Evans holding you off" he asked with a smirk.
He knew the last time he called Lily mudblood got James furious. "She is only a mudblood anyways nothing speical just like the other mudbloods around this dull joint" Severus responded as he looked directly into James's eyes. "Your just as foolish as she is you two are both a disgrace to us well let's just say us powered" he said with a small chuckle.

James eyes narrowed and he had his wand out of his pocket before he knew what he was doing. He gripped it tightly, breathing deeply in an effort to call himself down. He was just trying to make him angry, James knew that. The only problem was that it was working. He forced himself to tamp down the anger and instead reply, "Goofball? Now, if you think so little of Malfoy then why are you always kissing his arse? He has you practically licking his shoes clean," he said with a laugh, but there was no humor in his voice.
"And if you want to get into who is a disgrace and who isn't, then look in the mirror Snivellus. We survived for centuries with this power, and you're supporting the one person who wants to destroy it. Do you honestly think we can survive if we take advantage of our gifts and use them against everyone?" he shook his head, his expression dark now. It was no secret that most of the Slytherins supported Voldemort, and he knew that Malfoy and his crew were his closest followers. Snape had to be one of them as well. [/sub]

"Oho is little old Snivellus getting Pothead angry" he asked with a little smirk. "Kissing his arse my, my Potter you've got your thinking all wrong it is him that is kissing my arse he just wants to be with the popular Slytherins but, he'll never be what he wants" Sev admitted.
Looking at him and hearing his words about the dark lord brought a small frown to his face. "Destroying it my dear boy he is just riding the world of our weak foes why would you want to live in a world with weak, useless mudbloods" he asked him. Gazing down at Potter's wand then at his own he smirked.
Sending the Bat-Bogey Hex to wards James he just stood there laughing. "We will see who is victories in the end Potter we will see" Severus said.

James dodged the spell and cast Expelliarmus at Snape. He took a step back from him, swiveling to the left. "Weak, Snivelly? Does he plan to off his supporters, too, then?" he inquired with a quirk of his eyebrow. "You seem to talk quite a bit behind Malfoy's back, but then again you all do..." he trailed off with a shrug. He didn't plan on casting any more spells, unless he needed to.
"The one who pretends to be something they aren't would be you, though. At least Malfoy is on the same side all the time. You need to make up your mind... Be her friend all the time, or not at all," he said with sneer. [/sub]

"Be her friend oh please like you'll allow me James so stop with the smart talk" Sev said with a shake of his head. Eyeing him Severus just glanced over at his wand that now layed on the ground and picked it up then shoved it back into his pocket. "Like I'll be your friend though oh please how can I be your friend when you made a fool of me in front of her" Severus asked as he turned away from James.
"I only called her mudblood because of you" Severus said in rage. Glancing back at him he smirked for a second before running at him and attempting to tackle him to the ground.

James took a step back from Snape but was too late, the boy managed to tackle him and they both fell in a heap on the floor. James was quick to gain the upper hand, or at least try to, and did his best to flip the two over so he would be on top. "I never said I wanted to be your friend! You're a git!" he snarled, aiming a punch at his stomach. Physical fights were different, right?
"And I didn't make you be an arse to someone who you called your friend. As a matter of fact, I never said you couldn't be her friend. But I certainly want a slimeball like you close to her!" he added. [/sub]

"Who said I wanted to be her friend in the first place your just assuming things Potter" Severus shouted. Feeling the punch to his stomach he snarled as he rolled back over getting back on top of James. "Right sure you didn't I was in rage from what you did to me earlier before she helped and then it slipped out it was you that made me in rage in the first place you git" he said as he stood up off of him.
Looking down at James Sev snarled as he kneeled down in front of him. "Don't get in my way if you know what's good for you" he said before he kicked James in the stomach or at least attemed to. Snarling down at him Severus straightened his slytherin robes and ruffled his hair. He really didn't want to hurt James but, if he had to he would.

James doubled over as Snape kicked him in the gut and then stood up. He narrowed his eyes, aiming a kick in his shins so that he would fall back down and James could once again overtake him. "Oh, don't worry. You never had a chance anyway, you greasy-haired prat," he growled.
It wasn't James' fault that Snape had decided to turn on Lily. He had just brought out his dark side, that was all. Though James would never admit it, it kind of hurt that he was getting blamed for it. That was one of the few things that he had ever seen really get to Lily and he wouldn't be able to be responsible for such pain. [/sub]

Glaring up at Potter as he fell to the ground. "I thought gryffindorks are supposed to be kind and loyal not berserk" Severus answered as he sighed. Maybe it was time to finish this well at least this fight before it got out of hand and Lily would come and see what James was doing.
Sure Sev still liked Lily but, he didn't want to spoil things between her and James. Standing up he looked at James and snarled. "Maybe I should finish this before Evans comes she doesn't want to see you fighting does she now Potter" Severus asked him.
Turning away from him Severy snarled. "We'll finish this other time when your not so worried about Evans your mind is totally out of place right now I can see it in your eyes Potter" Sev saud as he looked back at him. "Don't let a girl get in the way for what you believe in"

James snorted and stood up, tilting his glasses so that they once again laid straight on the bridge of his nose. He ran his fingers through his hair to further mess it up and then brushed himself off. "I never did," he muttered now, his voice soft. "That was you," he added with a glare. And, with that, he turned on his heel and began walking in the opposite direction.
Now that he wasn't in the 'heat' of battle, his head was clear. He wasn't going to let his rage over something Snape said change everything. If Lily were to find out about this little arguement between the two, James didn't know what would happen. And he didn't want to find out. [/sub]
